ms. gibson commented on my in-class essay that i should try to keep from getting caught up in the rush to finish and start writing in "IM speak"...

and that's true. but the face of communication and slang and english itself is changing, and despite, or in some cases to spite the paid-conservative view of english teachers, there is nothing they can do about it! mua ha ha!!!

*aherm* i may have gotten a little swept away with the maniacal laughter.
really i just wanted to lead into this conversation i had online tonight... and to state that "IM speak" does not equal intellectual void by any stretch of the imagination...

hym (11:43:31 PM): our sociology class is always interrupted though by nick, who feels as though he must remind us that none of this matters and its all bs because "as a christian, blah, blah, blah"...makes me laugh...and extremely evident of the struggle between the bible belt and ms pagano
me (11:43:51 PM): lol
me (11:44:06 PM): you should move here
hym (11:44:08 PM): yall shoudl come visit sometime...we could have a brawl
me (11:44:13 PM): lol i love it
hym (11:44:21 PM): as do i, as do i
me (11:44:52 PM): i definitely want to come to school with you someday
me (11:45:00 PM): i'll shut people down
me (11:45:05 PM): nick will be first
hym (11:45:23 PM): hehe...julie and i decided we should have been raised elsewhere...somewhere less ultra-conservative
me (11:45:49 PM): ::nods:: i love the south dearly and don't call anywhere else home....
me (11:45:58 PM): but i'm really glad i was raised elsewhere
me (11:46:20 PM): not so much "raised" as "finished"
hym (11:46:36 PM): we were discussing my goings on in maryland and decided that it was funny how i was one of the quietest and most conservative there...but she and i are the most liberal and controversial here
hym (11:46:53 PM): *some of the most
me (11:46:56 PM): hehe
hym (11:47:01 PM): meeeeeeee gusta
me (11:47:08 PM): when worlds collide
me (11:47:24 PM): yo tambien
hym (11:47:52 PM): and yet, we're both staying right here for college...mmm, the irony
me (11:49:01 PM): haha
me (11:52:00 PM): you know, that's kind of funny... most of my friends here are trying to get as far away from here as possible
hym (11:52:21 PM): so are mine
me (11:52:27 PM): and only like one or two is going even remotely further south than here
me (11:52:30 PM): hehe
me (11:52:37 PM): hicktowns unite!
hym (11:52:58 PM): hehe...they should go to school in augusta...everyone needs a little cultural mixing
me (11:53:15 PM): hehe that's what i say
me (11:53:34 PM): except... i'm coming to the realization...
me (11:53:51 PM): no one except the people who grew up with it likes the south
me (11:53:56 PM): i mean... i love the south
me (11:54:00 PM): and i grew up with it
me (11:54:35 PM): but so many people that lived there or visited or whatever are all anti whatever
hym (11:54:40 PM): i agree
me (11:54:47 PM): and i think it's sad
me (11:54:52 PM): b/c i do love it
me (11:55:26 PM): and it's sad that social problems have to ruin the south for everyone
hym (11:55:47 PM): i guess its cuz you cant go from a liberal environment into a conservative one and not feel suffocated...but you can go vice versa and still appreciate where you came from, but grow from there
me (11:56:01 PM): true
hym (11:56:16 PM): and because ... in the immortal words of arik...
hym (11:56:45 PM): " the south lacks this thing...this thing called tolerence"
